One major difference between photography and painting is that the photographer has to work with what he has. The painter can choose what to put in his picture and where. The elements of this picture seem to have been carefully selected and placed by you in precisely the right locations, just as a painter would. You have a very good eye for seeing in nature what would make a good picture. ...

Great capture. The colours are a bit dull. Some contrast and levels adjustment should yield a noticeable improvement. G

Interesting picture. It looks like an illustration rather than a photograph (and that is not meant to be uncomplimentary). G

Brian, you need to try to get more light on the subject. If necessary use flash, even in daylight. Also, in macro, perfect pin-sharp focus is absolutely essential. You need to stop right down (F5.6 doesn't give much DoF), and obviously flash will enable you to do this. Keep at it! G

You have an eye for composition, Stan, but I have to agree with Gabor that many of your pictures tend to be a little on the dark and gloomy side. This is especially true of the church in Taunton which is a less obvious candidate for gloom than this picture. However, this is perhaps deliberate, and doesn't alter the fact that your pictures are beautifully composed. G
