A couple from RIAT this weekend. Taken on my K5 with the sigma 170-500 lens.

At times I needed a wider lens, but overall its a great length to shoot with. Most were taken around 400mm.

More photos on my flickr here...

Thanks Sledger. From memory the secondhand 170-500 (not the newer 150-500 or 50-500) was only slightly more than a new DA55-300....

I have the DA55-300 and agree with what Mark said that it can occasionally be quite slow to focus. I used it at Farnborough last year and it wasn't quite long enough.

Shots on a K7 with a DA55-300

After that I got a second hand Sigma 170-500 lens and I find I've now got the distance I want and the lens focuses alot quicker (i.e. the focus throw is less than the DA55-300).

Shots on a K7 with the 170-500

Both lens are very usable at an airshow, however the DA55-300 may mean you either miss the shot you want or you end up cropping your images down quite a lot...

Hope that helps.
