Well that was fun !

#10 wins it - retired Cool Hand Luke ! #8 and #13 were close runners-up.

Ah the memories come flooding back. 30 odd years ago I was back-packing around Europe and by the time I arrived in Monaco I was totally skint, like less than a Pound, and so resorted to sleeping on beaches.

Well of course that's tough to do in Monaco with a huge harbour, no sand and the police would not let you settle anywhere of course .... have to maintain the image.

However the police would direct you to walk all the way out to the sea-wall (you can just see it in the first shot - behind the crane) ...... and over it, and that's where all the back-packers slept, they had even set up showers for us ! All well out of sight of the Ferrari Ferragamo crowd !

Thanks for posting those !

I love mine too. Although not as sharp as the 35 it's sharper in the centre than the 31 Ltd (which has impressive centre to border sharpness with very little fall-off) ... and that is what it is best used for, low DoF shots and portraits neither of which require sharp borders (which is where the 30/1.4 is let down - but nowhere near as badly as some would have you believe, MTF figures don't really give you the whole picture in that regard).

I have no qualms about using mine for landscape, wandering around the city etc. though I bought it for 1.4 for DoF and low light. It does have a lovely bokeh and speedy, quiet, AF too.

If you need those qualities then buy it as there is nothing else out there close to f1.4 and the 31 Ltd is a lot lot more expensive.

The last is just gorgeous MZ !

Having lived there for 3 years I know from first hand experience just how beautiful Austria can be no matter the season. Some wonderful scenery, great skiing and great hiking.

Good capture. Barcelona were beyond superb, no team on the planet could have stayed with them - probably the best team I have ever seen (hmm maybe Liverpool of late 70's are close)

We may have surrendered most national titles to United this season (KK will get it back) but happily we still retain a 5-3 lead as European Champions !

You could also consider the Tamron 70-200/2.8. About the same size, weight etc. the MTF figures say it's sharper than the Sigma but lacks any form of HSM of course. It is s little cheaper than the Sigma (probably because of the lack of HSM).

I tried one out recently - and will probably get this lense soon - and found that the purported 'noisy AF' was nothing of the sort, you can hear the AF but it's certainly not 'noisy' to my ears. The other two benefits of the Tamron is it will take the Tamron & Pentax TCs and probably many others too and the exceptional guarantee Tamron give - it's 3 years here, I think 7 years in the USA not sure about the UK / Europe.

Having recently bought the Sigma 30/1.4 I am amazed at some of the mixed reviews it has received in some quarters. Seems to be a lense you either love or hate ... I love it !

Stupidly sharp, excellent fast & quiet AF, lovely bokeh, very bright (on a recent test I did against the Voightlander Ultron 50/1.8 and 43/1.9 Ltd the Sigma was clearly much brighter at any given stop .... maybe half a stop extra light.

This is now one of 3 lenses that go everywhere with me (inc. Work & Shopping) .... along with the 43 Ltd and Sigma 50-150. You're going to love it, congrats !
