I have done it in TV mode and in manual both at 1/4000 the iso at 1600. But getting a clear picture is no problem as far I can tell the pictures are not blurry at all this races are held in arizona at day time in a Ranch.
I have been able to capture the horses but the problem is that sometimes are past the finishline.
If you want I can download 2 or 3 pictures and email them to you

Hi: Am using my camera to get finishline pictures of a horse races and am using a laser line device at the finish line wich is plug in to the shuter realese of my camera and this devise do not have any delay at all, but my problem is that i can not figure out the most manual settings of the camera, I mean anything that the camera does not have to do, I need the most fastes shutter lag, because some pics come on the finish line and some past so that tells me there must be something that the camera is still doing that sometimes takes a little longer and the oic is litle late.
Could someone please help me.
Am very amateur but I have been trying many times.
Thanks in advance

johnriley: The trigger point is set at 153 inches back from the finish line and thats the closest I have come to the finish line, but some times horses are past the finish line by half horse or some times full body and horse meassures aprox 136 inches and I just have not been able to set the camera to take the pictures at the same time, I can understand that some horses are faster than others but that should be just 2 or 3 inches difference on this senario.
