Shameless request to all my fellow Pentaxians Posted in General Photographic Chat |
Hi Guys, This is something that I have never done, but I am looking for your help if at all possible? I have been shortlisted for the British Photographic Awards 2019, which was a major shock to me, and one that I am still pinching myself over. However, all the captures, which have passed the judges are now up for the peoples vote. Within the best street scene there are 2 Pentaxians vying for nomination. My capture called 'Pizza Man' can be voted on the following link; https://www.britishphotographyawards.org/2019-Shortlist/Street/Pizza-Man/2111d864-223d-41ca-82cd-1cc5c6625e3b While my fellow Pentaxian can be voted on the following link; https://www.britishphotographyawards.org/2019-Shortlist/Street/Cool-Dude/4d4ab633-2cd1-425d-9884-1f5401a86c90 If you can vote for me/us I would be very much indebted to you. My nominated charity for all sales post event go to Shelter, so you'd be helping 2 good causes, these being 1.Shelter for helping some of the most vulnerable in the UK and 2. mine to only get to the awards :-) So without sounding like Sir Bob, please give me your vote...now...:lol::P (no expletives here) On serious note though, for anybody who does vote for me, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Yours sincerely Daz |
Pentax DA* 16-50 with SDM failure Posted in Classified Adverts |
DA* 16-50, now fully operational. Turns out if I switched it to live view the SDM woke up, Now works perfectly fine. Coupled to my K1 lens is a cracking piece of kit, but not being used so it's up for grabs. Offers now at the asking price or above, ideally looking to get £250.00 if possible. |

[quote:3496ace15f="bforbes"]Before you say they SDM is dead, have you tried "waking up" the SDM by connecting it to the camera and manually moving the focus ring back and forth?Hi Barry, Yes tried that on my K3ii body, alas to no avail. Even removed battery, re-inserted with lens attached etc switched it on and off, typical IT helpdesk question, but nowt. Manual is a dream though 😉 All the best DarrenBoth my 17-70 and the50-135 both took a long while to re-awaken after a period of idleness[/quote] I will give it another go before getting it converted 👍 Thanks Barry |

After upgrading to the K1 (mk1) I have not used my 16-50 for a little over 12 months. However went to use it yesterday on my K3ii, and it has fallen foul of the SDM gremlin. As I do not have a Pentax older than my K3ii, in order for me to convert to screwdrive, and to be honest I haven't really used this lens for 12 months I think it is time for it to find a new home. I did toy with the idea of having it repaired but the Boss lady has told me to off load not only this lens but some others too that I don't really use. Optically the lens is flawless, there is no gritty feel in the focus ring, and it has always been covered with a 77mm Kenko Pro UV filter. I am unsure really of a specific price for this lens in it's current condition, but apart from the SDM there's nothing wrong, it has both caps, lens hood and soft pouch, along with the box. I think that fair price would be around the £200.00 area based on google research, (Although I am open to sensible offers ;-) ) Preferably post in the UK, but will ship to the EU, however, please contact me to discuss postage for this :-), as with most sellers, I will accept PayPal (gift) but a bank transfer would be better or cash on collection. I am located in Birmingham, UK about 5 minutes from Birmingham Airport. |

Hi Guys, Many thanks for al the great info on the newbie flash question, I think I might look to get either the Metz or the Pentax, while cyber Monday is here :-) In saying that a fellow Pentaxian has a Metz 58 AF-1 and AF-2 up for grabs in the forum, I might look into that one :-) Have a great day Darren |
Newbie to flash question Posted in Flash Photography |
G'day guys, I trust all is well? Sorry to ask such a bit of a newbie question, but I am looking to buy a hot shoe flash that would be suitable for both my K-3ii and K-30. I was considering the Pentax af360 fgz ii or its bigger brother, but I have seen other third party products from yonguno etc and was wondering which one to get. I am venturing into territory that I am not used too and I have a wedding to shot late next year so need to get plenty of practice in before hand :) Many thanks and have a great day Darren |

20-40mm Limited in Silver Posted in Classified Adverts |
I am selling my very little used (about 40 captures) HD DA 20-40mm F2.8 - 4 ED Limited DC Wr. The lens is in near mint condition, no marks, scratches, dust, oil or scuffs. It is still boxed and complete with leather pouch and limited hood. Also a useful point, is that this lens is the only limited that I am aware of which is weather resistant. The lens has a fast focus aspect with no issues, it's just under used from my point of view. With these lenses still commanding anything from £400 on eBay to £659.00 retail at all other outlets, I am looking to try and obtain £350.00, plus postage. Preferred methods of payment, cash on collection, or bank transfer, I will accept Paypal but buyer to pay the associated fees, usually around 2%. When I post in the UK it will be via secure royal mail or happy to meet within a 15 mile radius of Birmingham airport. |

Thanks Rich :D I would like to add the the lens is first rate, Rich also let me have a look at his other DA* for sale, and I was tempted, but the divorce solicitor was whispering in my other ear. Check out Rich's great quality items, highly recommended, and again thank you was good to meet you too. All the best Daz |
Just a quandry Posted in General Photographic Chat |
Hi Papa, Thanks of rtes offer, Just sold my 60-250, but willing to lend either a DA* 50-135 or Sigma 70-200 f2.8 HSMII if of any use? Hopefully this will arrive before Friday.... Many thanks agin though for the offer. |
Just a quandry Posted in General Photographic Chat |
Hi guys, Sorry to ask, but I have a catwalk shoot this Friday for the local business in development forum, run by the local authority. As I have not done anything like this before I was seeing if anybody else had experience? I will be one of the main shooters 😮 However kit wise is fairly limited, so any opinons would be most welcome. There is a no flash rule so I am limited with the following; K-3ii with k-30 back up 50mm da 1.8 20-40 ltd 18-135 18-55 (kit lens) I was hoping to get a 60-250 da* before the shoot but the deal fell through, hence my quandry 😕. |

Hi, I have a brand new unopened Pentax 50mm f1.8 lens for sale. I was given this as a gift, but already have the nifty fifty, bought off a forum user here, so my new lens is surplus to requirements. If possible i am looking to get around £65.00 plus postage. Darren |

Fantastic lens at a great price. Sadly I own the silver 20-40 ltd otherwise I would have been interested. I must also add that this lens is the only wr limited, and paps is a true gent. So grab a bargain. |
John Lewis and the price match Posted in Leads to Deals |
Just thought I would let you know that John Lewis, who give a 2 year guarantee, will price match Camera Centre UK of Cardiff and Newport. This means John Lewis will provide a K3 for £565.00 😃, which is the current selling price at Camera Centre UK. Not sure if they price match micro globe as they currently have the 55-300 HD WR lens for £219.00. I think the other retailer must have a store, again not sure if microglobe are web based. However, thought i'd share the news about John Lewis. I have ordered mine today, paid the £699 and once I send an email to them, they will refund the diff within 5 days or 28 days if paid via PayPal. |

A bit of a daft question but are the limiteds Wr? Might be able to talk the gaffer round if they are 😉No, with the exception of the 20-40 zoom. Thanks john. Although this looks like a great lens id have to go with wr, living in blighty. |
