I struggle to get good results below 16mm om the DA 12-24 without severe vignetting on my K1 but at 16mm - 24mm it is an excellent lens. Still my favourite on a crop. Using man maths, I had to buy a Venus Optics Laowa 12mm for the K1. It is very wide but I'm very pleased with it . Similar IQ to the DA 12-24 although the flare is worse. The distortion is excellent on the Venus if that's your thing. I'm waiting for Pentax to bring out a scaled up 12mm to 24mm zoom for the K1, The Venus is tiny for what it is, so I expect I'll keep it.

Evening all.
I was intending to upgrade my K1 to a K1 II because my software didn't support the K1 II and I needed it for a few assignments before September. I then heard that the UK agent Johnson's Photopia went into administration and I wasn't going to send my K1 to them in case I didn't get it back so I've missed out on the time-limited offer.
I've read elsewhere that Pentax are still doing the upgrade and are honoring their upgrade pricing. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, who has taken over from Johnson's in the UK?

Chris

150 - 450 arrived safely. My word that is one heavy lens. At least the K1 has excellent image stabilisation!. A quick test in poor light is showing a lot of promise so I've just got to hope the missus doesn't notice it on our numerous hiking holidays.

Thanks for all your help.
Best regards

I think it's a fabulous lens. It certainly has something a bit special considering it could be considered a kit lens. Beautiful, colours, sharp wide open and very good bokeh. Very close to my DA 70 for rendering.

I can understand the frustration.

This unfortunately happens whenever there is an offer. We didn't get a massive amount of notice on the camera deals which are funded by the manufacturer.

I'm happy to sort the situation.
Hi Chris,

I wasn't complaining about missing out on the additional discount, I was only annoyed with myself in that I am no longer in a position to take advantage of one of the lens offers because I'm now broke. I was very happy to get the £250 off when I bought it from you last week.

Sorry if my post sounded a bit off. I really shouldn't post after having a few glasses of wine.

Great - just bought the K1 last week and see it has now got an additional £100 off. Rubbish.
