OK mind made up. Thanks for that Mag07 - common sense prevails.... Rush of blood and all that. I'll keep the £40.
Cheers

Yes absolutely John I agree.
There are three very small chips - but they are there... I'm thinking should I take a chance saying it's £40?
Is this lens a decent performer normally though above 135mm to warrant taking the chance saying i already have the 18-135mm WR??

Hi all.
I have come across a used DAL 50-200mm at £40 in a 2nd hand electronics store (ex kit lens). I didn't buy it because it has 3 small chips on the front element and a couple of visible specs of dust inside the lens. There is also no lens cap....but the staff have assured me it was tested on the body it came with and is fine.
However I am beginning to regret not buying it. I have the WR 18-55mm and also WR 18-135mm and both plastic fantastic primes - but i'm thinking at £40 i would have a lens with a bit more reach. I have read up that as the lens won't be focusing on the dust or chips they shouldn't impact much if any on image quality.
Is this lens any good above 135mm to warrant buying it in addition to the 18-135mm i already have? Have i missed a bargain or have i dodged a bullet?

Your thoughts/any advice would be great as i could return to the shop tomorrow to see if it's still there....
Thanks in advance

Thanks for that everyone. It sounds like I won't be disappointed. I think I'll go for it - plenty of opportunity for practice in the next couple of weeks!!

Hi Folks.

As a beginner I would appreciate some advice on buying a first flash unit (on a budget!). I have no experience with using flash units. Primarily I will be using it for indoor family shots and the occasional event (casual family weddings etc.) I wasn't happy with a lot of the shots I got at a friends wedding recently using the on-board flash. Point is - i'm on a strict pre-Christmas budget of around the same price as a Metz 44. I have a K-50 and use the 18-135 wr and DA 35mm f/2.4 & 50mm 1.8. I don't need anything too elaborate...
Is the Metz my best bet in this price range (£100 or slightly more) or does anyone have any other suggestions? Budget can't stretch to a Pentax unit.....Is the Metz good value?
Sorry as i'm sure this has been asked before but i'm grateful for any advice.

Cheers.
