Have been using the KX for about a year, (and love it) however today at Brands Hatch the camera sudenly started using lots of battery power. New set of Litium as I always use and getting about 30-40 shots then low battery displayed on the screen. Is this because of the S/W update? I am using Version 1.00. If just a S/W update does this mean my batteries are not actually low and I can continue using the camera.
Not sure about updating the S/W myself as I'm a bit of a numpty with these techie sort of things.
Cheers

Ive been using the 55-33 DAL 1:4-5.8 kit lens with my Kx for a few months now and although I gat fairly good results cutiosity is getting the better of me. Is there a better lens out there for motorsport (fast moving bikes/cars)? It would be nice to get something like 25-300 or similar as I keep changing the lens (18-55 kit lens) depending in wether I'm in the pit lane or trackside.
Thanks

Don’t have Photoshop or anything although I do have the Pentax Utility 4 s/w so will see what post editing is achievable with that.
Also need to learn more about low-ish light, had problems with taking pictures inside garages. The results were very dark and when in “auto scene” mode the camera needed the flash but there was no need for flash really. Need to look at the exif of the pics I have from Saturday.
Will be at Brands next week for the Britcar so hopefully I will hopefully manage some improvement with low-ish light shots.
Cheers

Not being very technical with a PC I tend to dig myself a big hole.
I had installed utilies once and it was working great until I foolishly uninstalled it. However something is left in the registry when you uninstall. The shop said it would clear the registry of previous utilities, re-install and I would be able to use as before with my existing user profile. Ill have a look at "make available to all users"
See where that gets me.

Went to http://www.carecomputers.co.uk/ seems to be something to do with XP home edition and multi user accounts.
Anyhow I was thinking if Adobe Photoshop Elements does everything that Utilities 4 does plus more I might as well buy that and use PS.
I'm new to all this so would need PS to be del/amateur friendly. Does PS8 have all the easy to use auto fix/correction functions. At the moment I'm more concerned with auto correction/fix. Fixing possible camera shake (with zoom lens) and coulor, brightness and sharpness ect:
For another £20 or so I could get PS Elements 8
What do you think.

Thanks for the responses. I have used 3 sets of brand new batteries (lithium and Alkaline) and taken about 200 shots in total before the batteries are flat.
I read that the s/w update corrects the battery level indicator as well as improving 2 other aspects so it's worth doing anyway. I find it strange that the camera has worked fine for a year I could understand if it did this straight from the box.
I believe the pentax service/repair centre is in Langley Slough which is about 20 mins from me. I will give them a call tomorrow and see if I can deliver to them and let them look at it.
Cheers
