I have just been reading Frogfish's excellent thread as I am thinking of making the same change. Whilst I was pondering this I wondered about other factors than the lens in getting the best image quality. Everything comes with a price, usually for a reason. Then there are rate limiting steps and diminishing returns. As I "only" have a K-x will these more expensive lenses give me much improvement in IQ over my DAL 55-300 which has been pretty damn good as a starting point? In sheer sensor resolution 12mp is pretty good but there must be more to say a K5 than just the extra 2mp. So in order of improvement in overall image quality should I go - lens first body second or the other way, which net, is actually cheaper.

K-x, BB bar Tamron 500mm mirror, TeleTakumar f5.6 200mm, DAL 55-300, Chinon 50mm f1.4, Tamron SP 60-300mm, Raynox 150, AF360 GFZ

You can actually usually get a metal PK mount for about £15:-

Hastings Direct car insurance took six months so it seems to be pretty normal.

Is that because it is much better quality than the Kenko 1.5x? I found that very poor and others have said the same.

I have ordered a small lightweight Lithium Ion battery, 12v 3800Ah which I am hoping will make the whole thing very portable. I'll let you know how it goes.:

Built the above but not working yet. This is probably due to my soldering and the lead I have used! Will have another go. In the mean time I have got an RF/IR remote extender from Ebay.

This works brilliantly. So can fire shutter from behind, in front, another room and distance! There has to be a downside doesn't there! Well as I alluded to above I can only find them with a DC mains plug in adaptor so it can only be used near a mains socket and you don't come across many of those in the woods! Surely though, I can adapt it to work with some sort of 12v battery or something from Maplins? Any suggestions welcome because this would be really useful to lots of people.

I thought I'd written that myself frogfish! I am in the identical position for the same reason and have posted this quandry a couple of weeks ago. My conclusions were the same really, but can't pin it down more except that the DA*300 being SDM won't work with my Kenko teleconverter. As for the mirror lenses I have the Tamron 500mm BB which is supposed to be the best and some of the others are apparently quite inferior. It can be good but is tricky. Everything has to be right - see below. These have all had some help from Photoshop.
