Thanks Ken - your comment made me go and look at the problem again. After testing with other lenses, it does indeed seem to be a sensor rather than a lens problem.

The "Dust Alert" function on my GX20 was not showing the speck and fooled me into blaming the dust speck in my 28-105mm.

So, now the question is how do I get a dust of my sensor that the sensor shake dust removal system won't budge? I've run the shake system 15 or 20 times, holding the camera at lots of different angles, just in case that makes a difference. Do I attempt it myself or get a professional to do it (and if so which professional)?

How do I get dust out of my FA 28-105mm f3.2-4.5 zoom lens?

There's a speck of dust on the element which rotates when the focus ring is turned. This element seems to be near the front of the lens. The speck shows up loud and clear on every shot taken with this lens and has rendered the lens unusable (except for night time shots!).

As its my favourite walk around lens so I'd like to get the dust out - any suggestions?

It has similar "semi macro"/close focus abilities to the Sigma 24mm, roughly 1:4 magnification at closest focus, (assuming I've calculated this right - at closest focus the full width of the frame on my K20 captures roughly 110mm).

Thanks Hefty1, but I'm not after a soft pouch for storing a lens, rather a tough case that I can wear on my belt with easy (one handed) access to the lens.

I'm having trouble finding lens cases to fit small primes. I'm looking for cases to fit single 49mm & 52mm diameter wide and standard prime lenses, that can be attached to a belt and provide good protection & easy access to the lens.

I have a "LOWEPRO Lens Case 1S" which does the job fine for larger diameter (58mm) lenses, but I've failed to find any similar cases that are small enough to take (say) a 28mm f2.8 A. All the cases I've seen are too big, designed for big fat Canikon lenses I guess. My old Pentax primes just rattle around in them.

I guess this may be a problem with modern Pentax Limited lenses too, what do people keep their 21mm & 70mm pancakes in?

(To be absolutely clear, I'm after a case to take a single lens, attached to my belt - I don't like camera bags, or pockets full of lenses.)

My teenage son wants to upgrade from his D70s to a K10D (and join the Pentax fold, hurrah). We're looking at three options (all with kit 18-55 mk1) :
- used K10Ds selling on eBay ~£350 to £370
- new K10D ~£450 (Argos or Calumet)
- new GX10 ~£350 (ABC or Park, inc £50 cashback)

Which would you recommend? He's a cash strapped teenager, so why would he not go with the GX10?

Do I understand correctly that the K10D was "silently upgraded" during its production life, possibly the autofocus system? If this is true, what was upgraded, what age used K10D would we have to look at to be sure to get an upgraded model and did the GX10 receive the same upgrades?
