Looks like this thread went from series to silly and back again

Well thanks to the Fairy Liquid my shutter is as smooth as a whistle once again. Thanks for advice.

I just put some liquid in a plate with work tap water and soaked clean sponge in it. Than just pressed gently on shutter button to let some liquid get into the cracks. Wiped dry the top and left to dry outside.

Next day it was very smooth. And camera still works of course.

I went last Friday to SRS to checkout some lens and K7. K7 is a sexy camera for real and i felt the much talked about focusing improvements right away. I'm not in a market for new camera but K7 certainly has what it takes to compete with the rest.

Bought my K100d at Camera world and they always seemed positive about having Pentax in stock. They have a good choice of gear normally which is what you want in a proper camera shop.

I'm just hoping prices will start going down to sane levels towards christmas or shortly afterwards.

Thank you.

Fairy liquid to the rescue

I use my camera so much that this little annoyance is not making me happy.

Hi Everyone,

The other day after a shoot we were all having a deserved drink and i managed to spill a tiny bit of beer on the shutter button. Didn't think the liquid went in but it has. So next day it shutter got sticky. Any idea what would be best way to dissolve the sticky substance.

I can't open the camera up, I'm guessing the weather sealing is preventing water getting inside camera but it just under the shutter button/switch and it needs flicking back and forth to get it going every day. Button itself is not bad but the preview action really get stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dan

Got flash back today. Seems to be have been repaired.

Less than a week ago I gave them a call to get an update and lady on the phone told me it might still take some time. I explained to her it was already 3 weeks since I sent the unit in and said the problem with flash is not a very complex one to fix. She told me that she can pass it to engineer to look at and see if it's possible to get it repaired quickly.

Update: Note with flash said: Adjusted Mechanism - Grinding Noise is the flash zoom resetting - General check and test.

It looks like they just played around with it but didn't actually open it or fix anything. It also seems there is some plastic bits shaking around inside the flash tube. Which I have a sneaky feeling what caused zoom jam in the first place.

I like the 3rd shot the most. Subject stands out from the background really well. You did use some creative soft focus option which is totally up to you. Background is dark but on my screen I can see green grass so it's not totally dark and it brings out the flower even more.

Not bad work, you should try exploring different perspectives more.

@Anvh: I don't do this living just yet. What I'm trying to get to is a good portfolio and than possibly try and get some paid work.

@Craig thanks for comments. I did think about making that arm small through use of photoshop but I voted against it as I wanted to keep it as natural as possible, model was getting hi-res shots from me so if she wants to modify them she can.

On second photo it was probably 6.7 aperture that kept her face and hands in focus, I focused on her nose in that case, location was really dark. aperture of 6.7 makes it not so obvious.

That is well close. that first shot is excellent. I was just reading new photography monthly with similar photos. Guy was using two flashes mounted close to lens.

Obligatory fishing for comments and critique, all welcome here and on flickr.

50mm is really an awesome lens. I am too poor at the moment to buy anything else so it's my fav.
