I think it's a tad more pleasing than the original.
...and a tad better than Matt's version - nicer, more natural colour.

And the sharpest effort so far, I reckon.

I love it Liam, reminds me of the stange sea creatures you see pictures of, and whether intentional or not, I think you've got the composition spot on. Definitely a competition winner, it's just finding the right competition!

Hi Liam,

I've had some success using a beanbag for support, just resting on the window sill (with window open, obviously ). The shot below was with my Tamron 300mm f/2.8 + 2x convertor. Cropped down, and reduced 50%. Shutter speed was 1/45s, so guessing the aperture was f/16 (this was before I got the KA mount for the lens).

The not-quite-fullness of the moon allows some more detail to be shown in the craters I think. It's surprising how often you have to recompose when shooting the moon - it's moves a lot quicker than you realise.

Hope you have a productive time in the woods tomorrow (did type 'good time' but thought I'd better change it ).

I'd have to go for the purple one to go with my Dyson. Although that's got more turquoise on it. Who thinks up these colour schemes???

Hi Kim,

A quick browse through the web seems to suggest that RF doesn't apply to digital, but long exposures do increase noise, which you obviously don't get with film. The D seems to handle this okay though, when noise reduction is switched off.

I did some 1 minute exposures a while back, as well as 4 and 16 seconds, and didn't notice any great variations in exposure.

Best thing though is just to try it out!

And don't forget to wrap up warm.

Hi John,

Sorry, it was only Gwyn who actually commented. To be honest it's not really my cup of tea, but you've executed it well, and it's got a nice feel to it. The blend of the elements is just right, and not something I would have thought of doing.

Had I been in a church, with free rein to do as I please, I (and I suspect quite a few others) would have been looking at the ceiling, stonework or pews, so full marks to you for coming up with something different.

Just tried it in Opera, but still got the 'stolen' notice...

Yep, got the notice too, but does show up in a seperate window if you paste the URL in.

They've obviously got some kind of nifty software to stop people pinching the pics (or at least embedding them straight in a page via a link), but that's not much use to John!
