If you find a cheap PK-A fit teleconverter then you can convert that into an extension tube very simply. I unscrewed the glass from a Jessops one which was terrible as an optical device but makes an excellent extension tube!

Funny how you have Gaymers and Bulmers both in the cider trade. Or at least it's always struck me as being unusual. I'd wonder if both names have similar roots?

I can never understand banks using a squirrel in their logo. Ours seems to guarantee a supply of nuts by burying so many of the things that random digging will inevitably turn a few up, rather than the legend that they remember where they buried the things. I think I'd rather a bank had more of an idea where it had put my money!

Must have another go at some photos of ours, main problem is shooting through two layers of glass, one of which is pre-float glass so adds all sorts of weird distortions and colour casts. If I try to open the front door and poke a lens out the squirrel inevitably disappears up the nearest tree.

You'll need to switch the lens to "M" too - K mount bodies don't have the little paddle to press the pin and stop it down to the selected aperture, so you'll have to do it manually.

The 55/1.8 is a brilliant lens in its various incarnations. Yours is a bit of an oddball as it's essentially an early version of what would become the Super Takumar lens, with the aperture instantly returning after the shot is taken rather than needing to be re-cocked as on other Auto Takumar lenses.

Hmm, see, it does come down to headphone choice. I have a pair of KOSS "Plug" headphones which do work exactly like earplugs. Sound quality is much better than the cheap ones supplied with MP3 players and they don't leak sound to annoy anyone around you, as well as stopping background noise from interfering with your music. You hear everything on the track rather than some frequencies being lost to background or shared with the rest of the world.

I also notice that whatever audio source I connect them too doesn't need to be turned up anything like as much as it does with full size headphones.

I'd still love to get my hands on a set of KOSS Pro 4AAs, Dad used to have a pair and wishes he'd hung onto them and got hold of the parts to rebuild them. I remember them vaguely as being serious headphones with cast metal backs and a mount to attach a mic to for headset use.

I've done a bit of sound engineer work and can (somewhat surprisingly) still hear things few others can. Any electronics which occasionally produce an ultra high-pitched whine drive me spare as I find myself trying to work out what's making the noise, and I'm forever hearing clunks and rattles in cars which mechanics can't trace (and definitely aren't tinnitus - I have no background noise when it's genuinely silent).

AFAIK you can sell any photo taken in a public place (or from a public place/right of way). I'm not sure what the rules are when people can be seen in the photo though.

Private land (such as an NT property) is different and the owner can place any restrictions they choose.

I suspect they picked 40mm for a pancake because of the old Pentax-M 40mm lens, but I agree it is odd. To give the same effect (of an ultra-compact standard lens) they really need to make something with a shorter focal length. If they were to release a K5-sized body with a full frame sensor it would become an incredibly useful, desirable lens, I've already seen it used on MZ series film bodies so it covers a 35mm frame.

The DA 35/2.4 is relatively tiny and lightweight, I've never had any trouble with it hunting for focus providing there's a reasonable amount of light.

The M 40mm is one of my favourite film lenses and tends to be fitted when I'm off to a city of some sort. An M series body fitted with this lens will fit into a coat pocket without looking any bigger or more noticeable than a digital compact, but produces far better results!

I spent a few minutes working out why you were taking slides of your sofa. Then realised there was a missing "f"...

You can use a slinky as a radio aerial, which is one major difference!

Legend has it that US Army radio men would buy piles of them while on leave from Vietnam, as they were perfect for connecting to radios and then throwing up into trees to get better reception.

Mind you, considering the grease levels of our local chavs I wouldn't be surprised if they were highly conductive...

Well I often wonder if those giant white CaNikony lenses are compensating for something...
