Ahh, ok - it must have been the Takumar I was thinking of. They are, after all, pretty identical to the K28.

Here is one: link

There are a number around £80 as well
Just picked one up for £40 and free postage.

K.
See what you think about it compared to the K version (which I think you've also got?) I couldn't see a massive difference in terms of sharpness or resolution, although the colour rendition is slightly different and I'm not entirely sure whether they have the exact same field of view after taking the same shot from more or less the same place with both.

I'm hanging onto both as I couldn't really bring myself to sell either!

It's probably a Kamaz racing truck - I'd love one of them along with a Bowler Nemesis to play with.

All the stuff I've read says that the cashback offer finished on the 15th Jan though (yesterday)?

Hmm, please don't encourage them or I'll be hunting for the last remaining K-x instead! I won't be in a position to buy until early March.

I haven't tried it on the film bodies yet but will be doing so. It has a proper aperture ring and covers a full frame, so it'll be fine.

Pentax have kept the same lens mount since 1975 so you should be able to get hold of extras for some time yet. Any Pentax autofocus lens will fit your K-x and work exactly like the 18-55mm it came with, earlier lenses work but require a bit more effort. Just ask here if you see anything you like the look of and someone will be able to say whether it's worth the money.

Interesting...the only f1.4 lens I own is the Samyang 85mm (next fastest is the 50mm f1.7) but I find that much easier to focus manually than other lenses as the depth of field is so shallow. It's either in focus or it isn't, you don't get the "not quite there" problem.

I would suspect some sort of chest pod/grip would be needed with the Bigma. I remember seeing the white drainpipe and Canon brigade at RIAT armed with assorted pistol grip and stock type things.

While most airshows ban tripods (and they can't be moved around fast enough anyway) there's nothing to stop you having something to brace the camera against your shoulder. With more DSLR video shooters around there seem to be a decent number of camera steadying devices turning up.

I did see an M 28/3.5 for £50 last week on ebay UK, as expected it went pretty quickly but they are out there. There do seem to be a fair number hitting the £100 mark though, and indeed all Pentax lens prices seem to be going up. Unfortunately the last handful of older lenses I actually want seem to be amongst the ones with the highest average prices (K 50mm f1.4, K 100mm f4 Macro, K 135mm f3.5 and M 100mm f2..

I'm planning to have a play with the hyperfocal trick and video recording when I buy a K-r in a month or two. For that reason (thinking a new body is a better investment than more old lenses) I won't be hunting for the last handful unless they come up stupidly cheap!
