Hi George,
I just finished RTFM with my C1 Pro V3.6 and it definitely says in Ch 13.5 that it supports ist D.

The DS doesn't get a mention but this may be due to the delta in software and camera release dates (nor does DL get mentioned but that is expected give its relatively recent release).

Do you know what the differences in the D & DS .PEF files are ?

Regards, Colin

Bother said Zebeddee !

I've just read the ReadMe and the above fix is only compatible with CS2.

Hi,
I've answered my own question in part. Adobe's solution is at:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=3067&fileID=2832

It lists ist D & DS (not that I know of any difference in their .PEF files)

How about Capture One ? I prefer the ease of workflow with this App.

Matt,
Hi, great starter for ten but I cannot get off the starting blocks ! I use both Photoshop CS and CaptureOne Pro v3.6 and started shooting RAW on my *ist DS last weekend. Neither application recognises .PEF files. The only workaround I have found is to use the supplied Pentax Laboratory software and save the file in a .TIF format, ...not very satisfactory.
Is there a plugin for either or both that somebody could point me to please ?

Thanks, Colin

Long shot I know but I'm going to ask anyway.

Sat 17th Sept saw the Thames host the Great River Race from Ham to Greenwich, a 22 miler for watercraft of all shapes and sizes.

Did anyone here take any shots of the winning dragon boat as it carved its way through 277 craft to finish first, setting a new course record en route ?

I didn't get any phots, I was too busy paddling.

Thanks, in hope.
Regards,
Colin

Thanks, I just got a reply this afternoon from PENTAX UK. It was completely non-commital, as expected: "...mid October but not fixed as yet..." . Hey ho.

I too considered the Sigma 12-24mm but was put off because of the filter issue: ND filters in particular.

Also looked at the Tamron 11-18mm, no sign of a K thread yet though.

There's plenty of talk but not much action about this new addition.
I have written to Pentax UK twice this month : no response.

Does anyone know anything beyond heresay please ?

I have been putting off considering 3rd party wide angle lens in anticipation. (well those that have Pentax K mount available, why are Sigma and Tamron et al always last with Pentax mounts ?)

Any considered views on the SMC 14mm f2.8 DA ED IF Lens ?

Regards, Colin

Hi,

Does anyone know a source of info on this firmware upgrade for the *ist DS. Filename : ds_e101w.exe. I spotted it downloading a printer driver from DriverGuide.com

It was uloaded here on 5th Apr 05.

I'm hestitant to use it:
a. How do I establish the current firmware version/ release on my camera.
b. Firmware upgrades can remove features as well as add them. Hence I'd like to know what the delta is, both + and -, with this upgrade.

Thanks, Colin

Thanks John,

I tried eBay and found a source in Germany. However a UK trawl of Google found Vintage Cameras.
http://www.vintagecameras.co.uk/index.htm

£9 + 50p P&P (190s.)

Sorry, didn't understand point number 4,

Regards, Colin
