I don't read the forum posts very often so I have only just seen this. Well done Tim!
You have such a consistently good portfolio that you deserve recognition of this degree.

Best wishes

We have got them in my street in Birmingham. They are a big improvement and the light is very white, slightly blue. Through my glass front door it looks like it has snowed in the night. Unless you are standing directly under them the light is not glaring.

Best wishes,

David

Hello Paul

I bought one of these battery grip 'replacements' which is really a copy of the Pentax DBG4 grip, made in China. It is a very close copy and claims to have the same seals and functions. It uses the same plastic grip texture, almost, and the same metal finish, the 'house' switches are the same as are the switch colours. I have used it and found it to perform very well.I am usually loyal to Pentax for accessories but the price of the Pentax grip is a bit steep and I won't be using it all that much so couldn't justify that outlay. I am saving up for more lenses, of course!
The deal I got on Ebay was £43.15 delivered free, in a couple of days. The 'replacement' batteries are available on Ebay for about £9.

Thanks Jon, for those kind words, and for your warning. By the way, how is it that you are a 'Venerable Member' with 51 postings if you have just joined?

Hi Jon, sorry to have jumped into your 'welcome' responses earlier, by mistake. I am still trying to work out how the site works.

Best wishes

Hello all,I have looked in a few times but now want to get more involved and ask questions. With so much good advice available it must be a good idea.I am greatly encouraged that Pentax is still holding it's own position in relation to the 'Big Two' and still producing great cameras and lenses.

Using MX,SFX,MZ,MZ5, K7,1stD2 cameras and various lenses for landscape and architecture mainly.

Hello Nonur, I have used Pentax cameras since the 1970s and love the best ones but find some models frustrating. I loved the 'M' series especially the MX. I found the IST D lot a bit disappointing. I have an IstD2 and used it a lot. I decided to try the K7 and after some hesitation have bought one. It is the best Pentax I have used by far. It is small and although slightly heavier than the 1stD feels good to use. The seals are worth considering. I know Konya quite well, I have called in there several times on my way to Cappadocia. It is a great old city, wonderful architecture,a fascinating bazaar quarter and very friendly people, I even know where to get a cold beer and watch football! The seals cut out a lot of the risk of dust getting into the workings of camera and lenses. I have some quite gritty-sounding lenses after holidays in Turkey, another reason for my buying the K7. I don't know the K20 and KX cameras but I would think , as they are getting a bit cheaper now, that the K7 would be the best choice if you want to encourage him to stick with Pentax.
