Hi guys, I'm looking to purchase a couple more memory cards for my Pentax K5. I currently use a Transcend 8Gb Class 6. I want to get back into my aviation photography this year so I've been researching the various cards and looking at numerous forums but its all very confusing, i.e SDHC UHS-1, Pro, Extreme etc etc. Can anyone please recommend a decent SDHC card that will help with the capture of images at air shows? - the Red Arrows tend to be pretty fast!!
I read a forum recently where it stated that Pentax DSLR didn't support memory cards that are UHS-1, is that correct?
Thanks
Chris B

Hi John K & Steve
Please ignore my last rant! I've finally sorted it after much hair pulling and a refusal to let it beat me! I had downloaded the files onto the SD card incorrectly. I suppose it doesn't help being completely up there in the IT Dept!
Thanks again and Merry Christmas - both cameras now sitting next to me updating!!

Steve, Thanks for the info but either I'm going completely mad or something is badly wrong! I've sat here now for over an hour at my PC following the various instructions and I cannot get anything to work! I managed to get the "read me" file onto my desk top but when I opened it there are numerous references to the download file but where is it to click on? I've done a search on this over complicated Pentax website and I just seem to be overwhelmed with green coloured "start download" boxes - download what? According to the search I've done the up to date version of firmware for the K10D is something like 1.10 but when I went onto another link it tells me its 1.31!! I di see some other files in my download file and cut/paste those onto my SD card, placed it in the camera and followed the instructions - guess what - nothing!I don't even get "uploading" in the LCD window - just nothing. Any further advice would be welcome - bring back film all is forgiven!

Hi everyone - apologies but I'm a bit new to the Pentax forum so I have a question. I have a Pentax K10D which I've had for about 3-4 years and last year I updated to a K5. I've never updated the Firmware on any of my cameras. Can anyone tell me how its done please? I've read a couple of instructions but I'm getting a bit confused about the use of the SD card and connecting the camera(s) to my PC.
Thanks
Chris

Hi everyone,

Thanks to all of you for your comments and advice. A couple of you have asked for a little more detail on what I'm actually doing (right or wrong). When I referred to the flight line I did of course mean the display area normally across the runway in front of me. In terms of getting to the show early I've recently done Farnborough and Waddington where we've opted for the package which includes a grandstand seat so seeing the action was OK. I've also been to Duxford a few times but have not had the same luck with viewing positions. My camera is the K10D and I have the Sigma 70-300 lens attached.

I usually auto focus for most stuff and try to obtain a fast shutter speed espacially if the Red Arrows are zipping along at a lot of knots! One problem I seem to gett constantly is I line up my shot with the aircraft in the centre of the viewfinder only to find when I look at the picture its off centre!!! A lot of aircraft on approach or in the distance look good in the viewfinder but again are disappointly small and lack detail when I look at them on the PC.

I hope this all makes sense! As I'm new to this I'm not sure how to upload any photos but if I can I'll try to put a few on. Again many thanks and thanks for your patience.
Regards
Chris

Hi everyone, i've just joined the forum so not sure if I'm even doing this right! I have a Pentax K10D DSLR and one of my hobbies is avaition. I do quite a few airshows every year in the UK. I have a SIGMA DG 70-300mm lens which is great. However, I do feel very restricted when trying to get decent aerial shots when aircraft are performing above the flight line - I just don't seem to be getting in there! Due to the safety restrictions distances from crowd to the action is quite restrictive. Does anyone out there have similar frustrations and if so how do you deal with it? Bigger lens? which one? where best to buy it?
Thanks. Chris B
