1. Rotating from landscape to portrait shooting, the camera only goes anti-clockwise (or your wrist suffers)
I wonder if you've got yours tighter than mine. Then again, the *ist is quite a bit smaller than the K10D, so maybe you have to hold it a bit differently with or without the strap.
I had the camera on the strap on my wrist for about 30 minutes yesterday, taking pictures of my nieces riding their bikes round the garden. It was great - very comfortable and I'm pretty confident now that it's not going to disintegrate.
I'm starting to think that this strap must be just about the best nine quid it's possible to spend on an accessory. I can see the neck strap being consigned permanently to the camera bag.
I wonder why Pentax don't make one.

Errr..... aren't cameras supposed to look scuffed, battered, scratched and generally as though they have been through many exciting adventures and expeditions?
Just in case...

I didn't know that the K10's body was painted.
On the DL, it's (as far as I can tell) black plastic, and I just checked, and there's not a single sign of any marking on that, not even a sheen from contact.. and that's after a year or more.

if you decided to get one Chris let me know how you go with it.
Initial impressions are very good. It was bit fiddly to adjust right - initially I had it too tight, and it made it difficult to operate the camera.
However, it's still not possible to drop it once the strap that goes round the wrist is clipped shut, and with the strap that attaches to the camera a little slacker it's both more comfortable, easier to get on and off, and and doesn't interfere with camera operation.
It seems pretty well made, despite being only £9 delivered, and I gave it a good tug in all directions before putting it on the camera, since the last thing you want is for it to break, with the obvious disastrous consequences.
My only concern can be seen in this picture, of the bit that screws into the tripod mount.

It's the raised bit at bottom right which is intended to stop it rotating inwards once attached. My concern is that it might chip the paint at the bottom of the K10D body - it doesn't even look necessary, since the soft rubber cushion effectively stops any movement once the screw on the bottom is done up reasonably tight.
I'm thinking of either gluing (if possible) a little bit of rubber cushion to the inside surface of the bit that butts up against the camera, or cutting it off completely.
Any thoughts from those that use these things? Apart from this I think it's excellent so far, and much better than the neck strap which I find a total liability.

I eventually decided against the handstrap as I thought it could restrict me doing anything else with my hand
I never wander around with the camera dangling round my neck.

If I am taking photos the grip is preferable to winding the neck strap round my wrist.
How lame is it, you're at a party, taking the odd picture... strap securely wound round the wrist, no danger of dropping anything. Then you have to shake someone's hand, and having the coolest camera in the room suddenly isn't so cool any more.

Yep, that's the one Chris..
As I said, it's never been off the camera since I got it.. and it's tidy enough that on those occasions you just pick up the camera for a shot or two, it doesn't get in the way if you don't use it.
I've always loathed the neck strap with a deep and intense loathing - forever having to worry about getting it caught on things. I've only kept it on for when I wrap it round my wrist.
Hopefully this will save me a ton of irritation. Thanks !!

I use something similar, but it has an extra strap that fits around the wrist with a cliplock strap. It's never been off the camera since the day I bought it.. upwards of a year.

If so, what do you think?
I wrap the strap round my wrist and hook it over my little finger to achieve much the same thing, but it's a bit of a faff.
The extra size at the bottom where it screws into the tripod socket puts me off a bit though.

I also ordered one of those cheap wrist grips from Hong Kong and hope that will be better designed, otherwise it's back to the neck strap
I've been really pleased with it so far. The neck strap has been consigned to the cupboard.
