I've left my GX10 left on for days without much battery drain thanks to the auto-off. Never left flash accessories on it, though.
The other one is if you leave it plugged in to the computer via the USB port. Drains completely in a couple of hours.
(I can hear John tutting even as I write )

Because it did. Not particularly bothered, but worth knowing.

the second battery however has a very short life even though it has a nominally higher capacity. I suspect that this is due to internal damage (it rattles!).

(Interestingly, the 'writing to memory' bit takes almost as long as the shutter time - did anyone else notice that?)
Check the "Noise reduction" entry on the custom menu.

More information than you ever wanted to know about batteries can be found here http://batteryuniversity.com/index.htm
I shall be keeping the spare battery in the fridge henceforth - at least I'll know where to find it, unlike most of my other small bits of gear

I'd like it if battery grips that use "aa" cells came to market.
it'd be nice to have the option. Pentax batteries are scarce, expensive, and scarce. If I sepnt money on a grip, it'd be to get 8 aa's into it.
I've taken very few pics recently, and haven't had to charge the battery at all. So the spare has been sitting about for weeks. I checked it was charged the other day by putting it on the charger - the red light flicked on for about half a second and then out again, so it was still completely full.
How does this compare with other non-Pentax branded batteries?

What does "abstract" mean, in the context of this competition?
The title is "Abstract Plant in MONO".
"An abstract, subject matter: any plant in MONO"
The only way I could make it make sense to me is to repunctuate it thus:
Abstract: Plant in Mono
and
An Abstract. Subject matter: any plant in Mono.
A little academic now, for me, though, if stems of wood are not allowed.

I don't usually like to do this, comment in this section when being the judge, BUT..... in this case there seems to be some confusion, according to my definition of 'plant' and other sources - and I am the judge so I will define it as being translated as follows:
'a plant, having no permanent woody stem'...
Lilly
And what about John's tree stump? Does having a skull overlaid on it make it Ok?

Unfortunately I didn't do well at all because the winning bidder from China was unable to make the payment.
So the lens is relisted and so far not reaching the same dizzy heights! But we shall see, because it's got time yet.

One of my very few gripes about the GX10 is that I do find the battery indicator to be pretty much useless. It seems to go from "full" to "half" to "empty" in a few minutes, i.e. practically no warning from supposedly full. TBH, I did hope/expect a %age scale.
Luxury that is.
My K10D goes from full, to half, and if I'm lucky and quick I can take one more picture before it's empty.
It was mainly what made me get another battery (a cunning marketing plan, if you ask me).
