So yes, skills unused become lost.
Photographing bits and bobs I'm selling on eBay, I always use MF, although this could be related to the fact that the lenses I use for this are not AF.
For anything moving, AF is usually better, and AF-C is a lot better than I expected it to be.
Just as I can barely sign my own name recognisably these days, since I make 98% of my non-cash payments online, AF is the future, as is online banking.

We've just purchased Photomatix so here's the first attempt. All comments and advice will be most welcome!
Next time you feel the inclination to spend money on software, resist it and send the money to me instead

That's all well and good. Now kindly explain how to install firmware version 1.10 onto a K10D which has current firmware.

You need to remove Norton (you won't regret it! :lol
Norton, (or indeed McAfee these days), should not be part of it.
Personally I think the only reason they're still around is the advertising budget, coupled with the deal they've done with some of the big PC makers to preinstall their products. Which suckers you into giving them money at renewal since it's so natural to believe that (a) they're big, so they must be at least Ok, and (b) it's easiest just to renew.
Such a shame - do you remember the original 'Norton Utilities'?

But there is a madness about some eBay buyers.
Recently, I've seen my own (originally John Riley's) 75-300 go for more than the new price at the time from SRS.
And I watched an imported scanner (with only a US warranty) go for more than the Microglobe new price for the same thing.
I can only conclude that there are plenty of daft buyers out there that can't be bothered to do even a little research into what they're buying.

If it uses the gyro's then it shouldn't matter if the camera is completely stable because the gyro's do not detect any movement so the sensor should remain on the same location...
It's not quite as simple as this, though, since when you release the shutter with your finger, even on the tripod, there is shake, caused by the act of pressing the button.
I wish they'd publish a specific, clear reason for why they say you should turn it off.

Well, it is not sitting right on the sensor. It is sitting on top of the filter (i.e. the surface of the sensor assembly) and therefore a little bit off the sensor. At wide apertures more light can go "around" the sensor, therefore softening the shadow.

That balloon shot is simply awesome! The sky radiating out from behind and all the colours just work so well - fantastic capture, I'd be very proud of that!
Any chance we could see a larger version? (They removed the 550px limit a couple of weeks back.)
