Both are very capable cameras and the choice may lie in the handling. The K20D will produce better quality, but will be heavier and bulkier. It uses Li-Ion battery packs which last for a very long time on each charge. The K200D is more compact, has fewer pixels and runs on AA batteries.

Personally I think the K20D is worth the extra bulk and cost.

The 18-55mm kit lens is probably the best such lens on the market, distinctly better than the Canon or Nikon. You may well be pleasantly surprised.

I rarely use ISO above 400, but when I need to it hasn't been a problem It's noisier yes, but the result is sharp and that's better than a blurred image.

Hope that helps, and welcome!
Very helpful John thanks very much for that

Just joined not because I am a Pentax user (although I was in the old days with a gorgeous MX)what i am here for is to pick your brains.I currently use a Canon 350D (sorry to use bad language) and am looking to upgrade but rather than slavishly sticking with Canon I decided to have a good look at the market.
I am considering a K200D or a K20D and could do with knowing firstly what the quality is like at high ISO (800/1600) and also what the quality of the standard 18-55 zoom is like. Thanks in advance for any advice
