Both are very capable cameras and the choice may lie in the handling. The K20D will produce better quality, but will be heavier and bulkier. It uses Li-Ion battery packs which last for a very long time on each charge. The K200D is more compact, has fewer pixels and runs on AA batteries.
Personally I think the K20D is worth the extra bulk and cost.
The 18-55mm kit lens is probably the best such lens on the market, distinctly better than the Canon or Nikon. You may well be pleasantly surprised.
I rarely use ISO above 400, but when I need to it hasn't been a problem It's noisier yes, but the result is sharp and that's better than a blurred image.

I think you will find that the K20D is actually quite a good performer at higher ISO (800 & 1600). I suspect it's quite an improvement in this area over the K200D which I understand has an older 10MP sensor. I say 'suspect' because I have not owned a K200D but other users who have or have had both maybe able to chip in

Welcome to the forum from a K200d user.
If you prefer AA batteries this is the one for you.
Image quality up to ISO800 is fine, although I seldom need to go that high and haven't needed ISO1600!
If 10Meg is OK for you then try one, if you want a higher pixel count go for the K20d.

I am considering a K200D or a K20D and could do with knowing firstly what the quality is like at high ISO (800/1600) and also what the quality of the standard 18-55 zoom is like.Thanks in advance for any advice
