Excellent close-up shot and B&W is the way to go here. The lighting is first rate, but above all its the eye that catches the attention. Good stuff.

And a very good first attempt it is too ! Good colours, focus and composition and it looks like there's a serious discussion going on.
A small suggestion: while you took the shot at a slight angle (i.e not straight on) it looks as if what they are sitting on is sloping down to the left. You can level it in photoshop.

Very good DOF and I love the sky. Just shows how far out the tide goes in some places. I live in Cyprus and the tides here are about 1 to 1.5 feet at most !

thanks Bobbinalorry and Brian1 for your comments. The campground is located on an island in the St-Lawrence river just west of Cornwall Ontario. A beautiful spot indeed. I thought that's where it was. Aren't the toilets off to the right there in the shade ?

Very good stuff indeed. Perfect background really makes the flower stand out in all its detail
Excellent lighting. Only (very minor) gripe is the slight burnout spot near the bottom.

Very peaceful scene. I particularly like the moon top right, and the overall lighting is great. Where is it ??
The experts will tell you that some of the best times for photography are up to 2 hours after sunrise and 2 hours and less before sunset.
You better "go" more often !!

This could have been a good shot, but the lighting on the hand is not strong enough and the depth of field is too shallow by a little bit.
It also looks as if there is camera shake as the part of the hand (almost) in focus is too soft.
However, I like the idea and black & white is ideal.
