This is a superb photograph!The PF and CA can be corrected with software and not really a hassle if you shoot RAW anyway. I think this lens is wonderful for the money.

What are your thoughts on a 70-300 owners thread? I think it might be interesting to see what this lens is or isn't capable of. There seem to be a few owners here already.

I collected my Tamron 70-300 today. I hope to use it at the weekend.

Now I know that these aren't the best quality shots ever but seeing as this lens which I borrowed off my dad last May cost him £85 I think it's exceptional value. Prints at A4 were incredibly sharp. Most of these were at the 300mm end. Admittedly the light was great being one of the only sunny days we had last year. I have seen purple fringeing on some contrast edges but nothing that can't be sorted out with software before printing.

I think the lens has a bad press because it's so cheap price wise. Tha added advantage of image stabilisation in camera makes it even better.

On a forum last year when I cropped the tigers nose at 100% to show how happy "I" was with the detail, I got a comment about excessive CA on the moisture droplets in the nostrils. I'd be concerned if the lens was £400+ but it wasn't.

The 70-300 is a fine cheap lens. I'll post some pics tomorrow that made me a believer.

I purchased Photoshop Elements 6 for £18 on Amazon about 1 month ago. It was listed in the second hand or new section. It didn't have a box so was listed as second hand. Very good value.

Despite not confirming anything last friday they contacted me today to say it was in for collection.

Apparently jessops have the tamron 70-300 at the Bromley branch. I asked my nearest dealer if they could get Bromley to send them one so I could collect. They said they'd call me back to say whether or not this was possible. Needless to say they didn't. I've had it with them now I'm afraid.

I think I'll get mine fron SRS.

I keep checking on the website. I've noticed that the nikon and canon ones have gone up again to £220!
