Yes, the first one depends on whether we want a portrait of the wheels, or the wheels in their engineering environment. So, either picture "works"....

Interesting set - I like No. 3 best as I can imagine myself lazing on the grass (in the warmth?) just enjoying the vista.

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. In the first image I was trying to get more than just the wheelset. But as you say, the rail and cloth do distract. We had to put in the rails round several machines a few years ago after an inspection by the HSE!
I've cropped it here - just a little wider than square.

It's taken at 16 mm which has given the distortion - I doubt if I could have got further back to reduce that. (I rather like the distortion!)

Some black and white photos I took at the Whitehead Railway Museum yesterday. Feel free to comment, or suggest how I could have improved the composition or processing. All thoughts welcome, (good or bad)!

I deliberatly positioned the spoke through the centre of the other wheel. - perhaps it would have been better to have shown the centre of it?

It's amazing the shapes old trees can get into. I like to make out faces in the patterns of the bark and branches.

A day of blue sky, sunshine and a little murky haze gave us little opportunity for photography, but it gave way to a glorious sunset.
K-70 with the 55-300 4.5-6.3 lens - a recent acquisition with which i think I've fallen in love with. (Don't tell the wife!).
