Around Fifty quid-ish, delivered.
A 24mm would be about the same angle of view as a 35mm lens on a full frame (35mm film camera). A 28mm would give about a 42mm view. Only 7mm, but because of the magnification, it makes quite a bit of difference!
If it's a wide angle you want, 24mm makes more sense.

Must it be 24mm?
I've no idea! As I said, I'm new to this. My first purchase was a Pentax 50mm 1:1.7 which has proved excellent, even with my limited talents.
I now want a prime lens that gives me a wider angle, I think 24mm is the best option, but I haven't actually used one, just set the kit lens to various settings. If I had a little more money I would buy both and compare them.
Do you have a price in mind?

28mm versions seem more abundant..but still go for £45+
I noticed the post of a £40 Sigma this morning...

Does anyone have a nice example of a 24mm manual focus with 'A' lens for sale? Not set on a manufacturer, but am after a 'well known' make at least.
Thanks

Comment by Ancly posted on [probably] Yet another focal length question.. at 19/03/2010 - 08:19
I have been comparing focal lenghts of my Canon S90 and my K100d.
Can someone explain, or send me to a page that explains the different uses of focal length markings?
Now I understand that my K100d has a crop factor in relation to film, and that my 50mm prime has an 'effective'focal length of X1.5 equalling 75mm.
With all that in mind I have compared my Canon S90 with the K100d and 50mm prime and to acheive the same frame on the Canon it tells me it's focal length is 85mm.
S90 reviews refer to it's focal length as '35mm equivalent'
Is all this correct/does it make sense?
The reason I'm doiong all this is to try and work out the effective field of view that I will acheive if I get different primes for my K100d...
Is the Canon showing the 'correct' reading?
If I set the Canon to ~40mm will I get a similar field of view to the 24mm prime that I'm after for the Pentax?
Any help appreciated,
Andy

I an shying away from non 'A' mount lenses, but do wonder if having one would force me to learn more about what is happening with my camera, and they are cheaper! ...
Pretty much gone off topic,so thanks and I'll ask any more questions in the correct forum.
