Have to second the Eye-Fi option. Expensive but works much better than the RA garbage that Pentax created.

True that you do not have control from the computer for time-lapse, etc... but the Pentax software was so full of bugs I could never get more than two or three images taken in a row anyway.
I lost many shots because the Pentax software simply froze up or even caused the camera to freeze until I removed the batteries.

Abandoning efforts to get the RemoteAssist software working is just a good thing.

And lets hope they get their equipment from the right department.

Your lucky day, just got my new DA*50-135mm scope.... you may feel slight pinch...

Hurray! I hope so.

Just sent my four month old K7 in for repairs along with my DA*16-50 in for the second time in five months.
Almost all of my Pentax gear has needed repairs in under a year and takes up to twelve weeks to get back.
I am sooo close to switching brands, if not for the huge investment. (ever feel hopelessly trapped?)

Hopefully some of that profit will be put towards their service centers. (or better yet, to their production centers so these things can be avoided).

I know there has been talk of possible silent 1.03 firmware upgrade a month or so ago... plus a pre-release slightly earlier. But today I had to call for repair info, and they suggested I download the latest firmware.

The tech said he got notice of it about two days ago, but as usual, the firmware 1.03 download page remains unchanged. So a real "silent" update for 1.03 is now available. The bullet point info has not changed from the original 1.03 firmware, so I do not know what is in there.

I was having very odd issues, so I'll take their suggestion for now and reflash the firmware.
It can't hurt, right?

Anyway, maybe something useful for everyone else in there, even though they won't say what.

Saw this at a thrift sale and just had to have it.

Someone used to use him as a second passenger to cheat on the High Occupancy Lanes that require two or more passengers to use them. (don't want to know how much they get you for if you get caught with one of these!)

Everyone including myself found it hilarious that half a body was just sitting there...
Naturally my wife is freaking out about having this guy in our basement.
he, he, thats what she gets for not wanting to help and be my model.
Honestly, he kind of freaks me out too. Knowing he's down there all alone, staring endlessly.

Anyway, I thought it would be decent for playing with portrait lighting. He even has glossy eyes.
Just thought it was a humorous find and wanted to share.

Over priced, maybe, but try building one yourself.
Using a cable should reduce some of the communications flashes, but more importantly it also works under bright overpowering sunlight and where the light might not reflect back to the other flash (outdoors, or facing different directions for bounce).
Sadly, with the cable you're stuck to relatively short distances and other cable-realated issues.

Lightroom will adjust the color to match the "As Shot" setting, Daylight in your case and move the sliders accordingly. If you manually set to the same value of Daylight, you really should not see much if any difference in the displayed image. So it sounds like something is awry, but cannot think of anything conclusive for what could be wrong at the moment.

I guess one suggestion would be to use PhotoME to look at the full EXIF data and see if perhaps the white balance setting is not actually correct.

Oddly, I was just out this weekend with my K7, and among other problems, one out of about four images did not keep the correct color balance. Set to Daylight, but came back cold blue. If I set manually to Daylight in Lightroom everything looked fine. I have a iMac, so I'll have to dig up a Windows machine or VM to run PhotoME and see what was going on with those pics.

Well, with a quick 30 minute test drive..

- Content Aware Fill .. AWESOME in demos. (Honestly, it didn't look that great in the demos either if you really looked at what it was doing... often a good start, but not *great*)
I took a portrait. Head shot with a somewhat plain black/grey background.
Cut a blank hole in the background. Space on all sides of the hole about the diameter of the hole I created. (so plenty of useable space to choose from)
Filled, and, well, WTF? The hole is half filled with portions of the subject's head!
I was hoping this would help with smoothing out and fixing backdrops. Maybe not so much.

- Refine Edge... Again, Awesome in the demos.
It acts a lot like the old Extract filter. i.e. solid areas get raggedly transparent, and semi-transparent areas just turn into a blocky mess. After a few tries, I got some better results. It seems this may be one item that has a large learning curve and will take some practice to get decent results.

- Paint brushes is actually pretty cool if you're into that. I think PaintShop Pro of four years ago still beats CS5, but it is a good start. I like seeing the brush angle from what is sensed by the drawing pad.

- *NO* Pentax camera/lens profiles for automatic lens correction. But their downloadable tool for creating profiles is quite simple to use and works pretty darned well!
In about 10 minutes (printing pattern through creating profile), I had a fairly decent profile.
Of course, for a zoom lens you need to repeat for each focal length. Distance and other factors apparently have some effect, so it can take some effort to create a good library.

- Puppet warp looks fun. Dunno how useful that will be for me.

Anyway, lots of play time ahead.

Well, I got the email at 1am this morning. CS5 is available for download.
Over a Gig download. I guess I'll download and let install while I'm at work today.

Nice images.

I had a few up when they first started, but haven't gone back to even try. The interface is just too annoying.
I applaud anyone willing to work through it. Let alone finally having quality images being accepted.
