The idea seems that you plug your USB plug from your *ist D into the new IPOD camera connector which then plugs into the IPOD. Photos can then be copied from the compact flash card to IPOD and be viewed.
See:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M98...
Unfortunately Apple do not list any Pentax cameras as compatible!
http://www.apple.com/ipod/compatibility/cameraconnector.html
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301052
The device is supposed to work with:
"""The iPod Camera Connector supports cameras with USB connectivity based on the following commonly used protocols:
PTP
Type 4 (or Normal)
Mass Storage """
Is the original *ist D this protocol?
I have the Belkin Media card reader. It works with the IPOD PHOTO but only copies the compact flash card photos to the IPOD hard drive where you can not view them!!! You have to copy the photos to your PC when you get home and use itunes to transfer them to correct directory on the IPOD. So presently my new IPOD PHOTO is only a storage device on the move like the old non photo IPOD.
If the new Apple camera connector works then the Belkin would be redundunt. However the camera connector is an optional extra. Good old Apple!

I would say it underexposes more than over.
Have to remind myself from the manual what the P-TTL is!
The on camera flash is just popped up and used in auto green. I also used the older ???400 Pentax big flash.
I have almost exclusively used slides on the Z10. My own made up solutions (I am a chemist) have been used to process them and high consistency was achieved. The Z10 got it wrong on some shots.
The *ist D is fine. The exposure is not a big deal - you can bracket at no extra cost! You can usually re-take the shot until happy.

There are no obvious malfunctions with the camera.
However, I'm not sure about the precision of the exposure in auto modes however. Can't be certain but I feel my Z10 is better and it has only 6 zones.
It affects simple views with land and sky and when using TTL flash. Quite often it gets it spot on!
The latest firmware has been installed and this may have helped. Not sure yet.
Otherwise this camera is fantastic.

Works with my Z10, and the Z10 is needed for those really wide shots that the *ist can't do because of its divide 1.5 x! So I will take two cameras.

Had *ist D since Oct 03. Can't say I have noticed any on either? I have a high quality Sony 18" PC lcd and a Nec Ht1000 projector so would see 'em if they were there.
In fact there are no obvious malfunctions with the camera.

Otherwaise this camera is fantastic.

The camera is generally fantastic and I could live with the exposure inconsistency.
Installed new firmware and am evaluating. This upgrade was suggested by Pentax UK.

I have taken hardly any portraits so far since getting the working camera a week last Saturday so have not experienced the closed eye problem. The previous flash used with the first K20D was an old 400 which did not have PTTL.
My *istD is left at the house in France so I can not try the new 360 on it yet!
Best wishes
