This is my first post (Hello ) and being a representative for Pentax Canada I thought I would offer this information if you haven't already done this. There is a firmware update for your K-5 camera which may help matters as it relates to Contrast AF.
Japan released firmware updates for the 645D, K-5 and K-r on Jan. 6th. Details of the updates are as follows:
645D
[Changes to V1.01]
*Compatible with SDXC memory card.
K-5/K-r
[Changes to V1.02]/[Changes to V1.01]
*Compatible with SDXC memory card.
*All ISO sensitivity setting can be used on Bulb mode.
*Improved functional sequence for Contrast AF and improved total speed until in focus.
