You weren't on holiday with the children/grandchildren about a week ago, in the Staines area, were you? Toting a white bodied K? and wearing a rather loud shirt?
No, it wasn't me. We're in the Ozarks (Arkansas and Missouri) this summer, where, sorry to say, it is just as hot as our home in Houston, Texas. It's not really supposed to work that way.

Throughout this year's trip (Colorado Springs, Cody, WY, Rocky Mountain NP, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton NP) I have been doing an informal poll by looking at the brand name on everyone's DSLR camera. In these highly photographed places there have been a lot of DSLRs!
During this time, I have seen exactly ONE Pentax - mine!
Now I know Pentax has a small market share, but I did expect, out of the many, many cameras I have seen to see at least one that wasn't mine. After all, somehow they have to stay in business.

And by the way, they may be "kit" lenses, but their image quality is excellent. I guess the TC will cost you almost as much as the two lenses together.

It gives you a lot of information, including how to stack them and a nice calculator to give you magnification and working distance with different lenses.

Thank you AggieDad, I did consider the Raynox but a couple of reviews said the mount wasn't always that positive a connection so it would have been nice to have tried one in a shop instead of relying on the Internet. This arrangement at least gives me the option to use a ring flash; the down side is of course using stepping rings for other lenses.
The connection is by two spring-loaded tabs that press against the filter threads of the lens. Those two "ears" that you see on the outside of the filter are what you squeeze together to mount the lens. They have a number of diopters available; the most popular being the DCR-150 (4.8 diopter) and the DCR-250 (8 diopter).
For about $50 (£35?), its worth a try.
