Hi - you're right that this is an expensive business we've got ourselves into! However, there are still (relative) bargains around. If you're happy with your Pentax 18-250 but would like a slightly wider fixed aperture within that range, the Sigma 50-150 might be worth looking at as SRS currently have limited stocks for £349 - I believe that lens has retailed for around £200 more than that previously. See attached link.link

I took the 50-150 plunge myself the other day and can't wait to try it out properly this weekend. Can't honestly say I needed it but it's a welcome addition!

Interesting that you're looking to offload your prime. The lens I've enjoyed most since I took the DSLR plunge is the DA*55. Fortunately I got it for around £380 I think, just before the price hike of mid 2009. It's all very subjective as it depends on your needs but I take a lot of indoor portrait shots of my children and a fast prime is obviously ideal for that.

Mike - I would be interested but have only recently purchased the DFA 100 (went for the currys bargain...) and have no need for another macro lens at this stage. Those are superb shots though, and I couldn't help wondering why you are selling this lens. Presumably you've decided that another focal length suits your needs better - if you don't mind me asking, what macro lens(es) will you be using in future?

As a new poster, hope I'm not breaching etiquette by asking the above question on your classified thread - was just curious as I'm getting into macro photography. Clearly this is a fanastic lens though and I'm sure someone will snap it up.

Thanks. Feels like a weight off my shoulders John - should have come out of that closet months ago!

Hi folks, I'm a new poster but long time lurker. Bought my K200d in Jan 09 and have been totally hooked on all things DSLR/Pentax since then. I've found this forum an invaluable source of information in recent months and thought it was about time I joined in - so here I am!

I plan to participate more actively from now on. I need to keep improving to justify k5 upgrade once prices come down next year!
