Okay, so I posted a question about my broken 6x7. The repair guy said it'll be 300 to fix. My only question is if it's worth fixing? It's a non MLU (mirror lock up) camera, and i paid $112 for it on Ebay. I can return it if needed.

I guess at what point will the camera produce shaky images from not being able to have it locked up?

Here it is.

So,I recently got a 6X7 without MLU on Ebay from an older gentleman. Listed as in working condition. I've gotten new batteries, lens, straps, etc for it, and it shoots fine with 120 film.

I downloaded the 67 manual by accident, and just got the 6X7 one yesterday. I started playing with everything to see how it worked, and noticed the film type dial is broken (dial on the right side that sets to 10 or 21),what is there is a set screw with a little thin washer screw thingy that can be adjusted to keep the set screw tight. I'm assuming the switch went on top of this...

Sadly, I've moved the set screw before I realized it was busted (It'll be a miracle if I can get it back to where it was). Now the camera acts funny while winding. Instead of stopping at 15 shots, it just keeps going and going like 220 is in it. The roll I shot like that came out, but it only took 9 photos, and the spacing was off on the last shot. I should also state that even though before I messed with this screw it stopped at 15, but only 10 fit on the 120 film. Assuming that quirk is part of that dial being broken.

I've heard of a guy in TN that repairs Pentax, but I thought I'd give this forum a shot to. I'd like to repair the camera before trying to return it. As is shot fine before I played around with it, although I could have never done 220 film if I never noticed this.

Any tips or thoughts?

No it doesn't work properly on the k3. It should work as all of the other lenses do, with the aperture ring to "A", then change it manually with the Av wheel. It acts as if this is a non A-ring lens on both bodies.

What JAK said works if you're using an older K mount lens on the body. The contacts are not working on this SMC A that I got. I've returned it for a full refund last night.

I cleaned the entire lens, back, front, etc. Still nothing. I guess that's what I get for not paying attention online and buying it from a Goodwill...

Nothing appears broken on it, maybe it was dropped? Who knows.

It does what would happen if I was to put a lens that isn't supported on it, such as the older Pentax K mounts do. It fits, but the aperture flashes with "--" on the meter.

It just confuses me, as an A series shouldn't be doing that, or so I thought.

That fixes it for the K3, but I'm confused to as why. This is because on the crippled bodies, like the ZX-30, the ring must be set to "A". It can be changed manually still with the Av button, which is what I do for shooting manual.

These lenses work from the zx-30 when used on my K3, although they are not SMC A series like the one I'm questioning, but a SMC FA.

Still, according to what I've found online, the A series SHOULD work on both. I guess it's always possible the charts are wrong?

Bleh...I still can't figure out if it's A ring is broken or not though...sorry if what I said isn't making sense.

So, I recently got a prime lens online, and according to the charts I've looked up, it should be working. The lens should be working with the aperture on A.

The lens is the SMC A 50mm 1:2 F2.
My cameras vary, but I bought it to work on the zx-30 (Crippled KAF) and my K-3.

Is this lens not made to work on these bodies, or is something broken inside of it?

I love my zx-30 (lenses work and fit on my K3 too), although I haven't tried any manual bodies. I hear great things though! I like my zx-30 because it's automatic rewind and newer. Although the lenses for it can be a bare... I still love it thus far though. Classic pentaxs are the ones people have listed so far...the LX,MX, etc.

So I just got what I think is a bargin for the 6x7 camera, it's currently on its way with UPS. Anywho, the only downside is that it does not come with a lens. I'm watching a few on ebay, but I thought I'd also see if anyone has any here? Looking for a 75mm up to a 105mm prime, or a 75mm+ zoom. Let me know if anyone has any! I'd like them to be in very good condition...
