Superb composition and processing - at first look it would suggest that colour would be the best choice (chocolate box) but once you take in the detail and the tones of the well balanced greyscale I can see why you've gone with B&W.

The sheer amount of detail across the frame is amazing.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

That is down to the excellent DA* 11-18mm, a top draw lens.

A consummate rendition in every respect. The choice of lens is undoubtedly a contributory factor, but the real skill lies firmly with the photographer
