What Within Will Eventually Without

by graysummers

Inspired by the art of Francis Bacon. I saw Bill Brandts' image of Bacon 'Walking on Primrose Hill' and looked Brandts work up. Been a massive fan of Brandt ever since. Probably evident in my style. Not so much Bacon (very intense). When I took this I was also inspired by Chris Friel (check out the link below).

I was a bit shocked at this photograph's outcome with that skeletal presence.

I did take a photograph that was inspired by the Primrose Hill one and will upload soon.

Thanks both. I'll upload a standard dune soon. Back to my first love of subject matter.

Interesting as Giulio has said. Clicked on the 'cfriel' link and to be honest I thought the images were taken by a very unhappy person. Not my cup of tea.

I love chris's work and when he has contacted me in the past he comes across as quite joyful. I used to make very dark pottery [Celtic Travellers of a Gothic Nature] and people thought I would be a bit strange. When they met me they were surprised when they found me the complete opposite. Art's a funny old conundrum of inspirations.

Love the dark side in photography, like this, pretty scary stuff.

Love it... Unusual, and revealing portrait... Take away the sharp lines, and you're left with the essence of something/someone... Rather partial to Chris Friel's work myself... A fair bit of ICM currently on my memory card... Whether it's THE essence, I'm not quite sure yet... But definitely AN essence... Investigations continue...

Great stuff...

I've never used digital, but the film neg content after I tried ICM is what inspired me to love the 'Latent Image on the Silver Stuff' philosophy. Patience for results. Good Buddhist ideal. I'm pretty positive that digital and film bring totally different feelings to results. I tend to substitute terminology (ICM with Motion Blur). I walk at the same time as hitting the button with intended camera movement. An expensive wasteful mish mash on the negs can ensue but hey, live a little I say.

Maria. The Art's Centre at Aberystwyth can inspire at times with their exhibitions in viewing strange art. Visiting local Arts Centres can unearth some very fine work to inspire. Thanks all.
