Welcome?

Menacing sky, solitary traveller, welcoming light on the edge of the frame, but is there any human presence?

A still frame from a film-noir. Very nice.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Fine story telling in a single still frame - excellent but could the bright area of light from the house window be toned down slightly, it needs to be there but its so strong it pulls the eye away from the most important element in the picture. the mysterious silhouetted figure on the horizon.

Thanks for the remark. I could, retouch, but I like the totally impersonal, unrevealing and ambiguous flood of light. A photo should have symmetry but, also - and especially - tensions within it, be slightly off-beat and rather unforgettable (if possible). Nothing should be quite explicit. The traveller has really come to the very wrong place...
ì like the quote above from Ansel Adams and go with it totally. But what I'd really like to do is produce stark B&W versions of Edward Hopper.
I'm relatively new to arty digital and its possibilities - and still don't know what to do with a pile of Leica, Nikon, Minox, and accessories.

Fantastic. You just know it's bad...
Come and see the beautiful things I see in the ordinary world.

There's something about that house that makes one feel very unwelcome and it's probably the severe brightness of the downstairs window that makes the place unapproachable! Love it!
