Please upload a nice smiley picture of a playful baby, full of life or at least sucking its thumb.
That silky background is not helping in this shot or the other with the father. sorry, but it has really given me the creeps.

I believe the reason one could feel..."creepy" with the soft white satin is because we often line our coffins or caskets with this type of material. Thus provoking a feeling of death..not my intent by any means, mind you.

In my own defence, a new born baby does not smile. It is often about capturing ..."just how they look". If is not uncommen for these little beings to look like little old wrinkly men. It is a look that only last for a few weeks, and then the change happens...where a more plump, smiling little person appears.

The other reason I have this background was it was the only background I had. The home of this couple was in terrible dispare, and I had bought the baby a present...this blanket. So I used it.

I find your comments interesting...because I think anytime a photo creates an emotional responds...negitive or positive that the photographer has then created a true piece of work. As they say...."A picture is worth a thousands word....

Personally I felt passionate about this shot...if it were my baby and I had this profile of his new-born face...I'd LOVE it. Thanks for taking the time to share what this photo provoked in YOU...

I like the use of natural light. The folds in the background complement the facial features. A very gentle dreamy image. Gold star for the lady with the K-M

Sorry to be so forthright in my comments.
It does indeed look like a dead baby displayed in a coffin, I didn't want to say it like that in case you were the type to believe in jinxes! Clearly your not so that's cool.
I'm afraid I found it really disturbing and my 'smiley baby' comment was meant as an antidote to the very real revulsion I felt. It's funny that Scott had just said it was a lovely shot - Shows it is just me I suppose.

I have three children the youngest is 2 so I wasn't just asking for an unnatural pose. I know what they are capable of.

Technically it is very good and most of the element of a good baby shot are there, it's just that particular pose, the silk and half-open eye etc - I had to comment.

Anyway thanks for being open-minded, I look forward to seeing more shots from you

No it's not.

With Darkmunk on this one - I like to see newborns with their mother or surrounded by life. That's why I prefer the other baby shot in B&W with another human. Sorry, but with all imagery, you know what you like!!
