Denby Dale Double
by pgweber
It's the weekend again so I will allow myself to trawl my steam train archive.
From almost a year ago, I present Ex BR 2-6-0 No 76079 and Ex LMS Black 5 No. 45407 hauling "The Tin Bath", a circular day trip from Manchester to Sheffield, Huddersfield and return.
It is seen between Penistone and Denby Dale. Not far away is Holmfirth of 'Last of the Summer Wine' fame, hence 'The Tin Bath'.
Captured using my K10D/Samsung 50-200 as a PEF.

Great to see this picture Peter. Its amazing how many steam trains are let loose on the national rail network considering they were allegedly done away with in 1968.

Now that's what I call motive power, Peter. Balkck Fives are one of my favourite engines: don't see enough of them in Great Western country!
Lovely shot!

Thanks again Cliff, David and Andrew for your generous comments.
It is a pleasure to share the shots when others enjoy them, Cliff.
There is something happening most weeks David, then there is always the Great Central not far away if I get withdrawl symptoms. See website:

I will try and find a GWR engine for you Andrew. One or two come past from Tyseley en-route to Lincoln or York. Not my favourites I'm afraid as I think they seem more primitive than the other companies with their exposed cabs, Swindon engineering not-with-standing. I am sure it is due to the more temperate climes in your part of the world
Regards
Peter
