I'll pass on the same advice I received a while back. Leave the space as if the moon is full for a more pleasing picture, the texture, tone and quality cannot be faulted, but as a photo it requires that "space" to the left.

Do you use a T-Piece for this or do you place the camera away on a tripod and focus. I have a telescope but i'm not sure yet how to hook up my K-x to it.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Much appreciated. I'll make a note about leaving more space to the left. It will require a bit of photoshopping since this is an uncropped frame.
I do have a T-adapter but this picture was taken simply by pointing the telescope towards the moon with a low power eyepiece (about 40X magnification) and hand holding my K-x right behind the eyepiece with the zoom set at 55 mm and focus at infinity.
Takes a few of shots to get it right.

Thanks for the tip, When it next stops raining (or for a change snowing) and i've got a bit of spare time, i'll be out with my scope and see what i can capture. Hope the moon is also out as it's the easiest thing to line-up.

Excellent shot, fine details. I like it a lot.

I would go for a tight frame like this too, up to around half full you really get the chance to krank up the power for more detail making use of the full frame...fine result, perhaps a little burnout in the brighter areas though.
Maybe set your camera to spot meter and roam in RA & DEC with your hand controller taking some shutter speed readings for the brighter areas in P mode, if the shutter speed flicks beteween two readings go for the faster shutter speed in manual mode.

Thanks Mike for your comments. On the original the bright areas are not burned out. I applied a gradient mask in PSE 7 which I thought would darken all the right side of the picture. Really helped bring out the details in the maria though. I guess I have to learn a bit more about those layers and masks in PSE 7.
