The Childrens Church

by rustytheclown

On Wednesday I was lucky enough to be allowed to photograph Barnados childrens village in Barkingside,Essex. Originally opened as a girls orphanage in 1876 ,it is now the headquarters of the charity. This was taken inside the village church.

I like this contrast between light and dark.

You've handled the tricky lighting very well.
Best wishes,

Andrew

I agree with Andrew & Giulio, well handled.

(I lived & worked almost on top of this place for many years; AND HAVE NEVER BEEN INSIDE IT!)
Best Regards, Larry.

All the gear & no idea.

Is that the building that stands out for miles around? I can vaguely remember it. I remember it was always viewed as being a very sinister place.

Thanks all for the comments, yes the exposure was tricky and I did bracket, this particular shot was half stop over.

Barnados village is a collection of small cottages, Paul, I wonder if the building you are thinking of is Claybury Hospital which is just up the road at Woodford Bridge. It is an old victorian asylum with a red brick tower.I dont know if I would want to go there, they probably woouldn't let me out.

Russ.

I think you're right Russ, it probably was Claybury.
The photo has a very peaceful feel about it.
