Steam and smoke

by davidtrout

Met up with Cliff-P and John 941 for a day of photography at the East Lancashire Railway at Bury last Sunday.
South of the station we were shooting straight into the sun but a road overbridge gave good shade for the lens and provided some fine smoke and steam effects. This is a train doubled headed by a Standard 4MT tank engine and the historic London and North Western freight Super D engine.

Well this is officially a WOW from me. Exceptional mood and drama and superb light, first rate, as you can guess I like it.

A wonderful shot, David. Could have been taken in 1956!
Best wishes,

Andrew

Tend not to like 'train photography'

That said... Normal 'train photography' does not tend to be as exceptionally fantastic as this!

Brilliant shot! Love it...

I wish PentaxUser had a 'favourites-button' so it could be added to profiles (like flickr does...)...

An excellent mono treatment, made to look slightly surreal by the bridge being out of shot- very atmospheric.

A wonderful tribute to the halcyon days of steam - the composition, drama and atmosphere it envokes create a vision that is charming and engaging
