Snowdon Spat

by pgweber

It's a long way to the top of Snowdon and plenty of time to fall out on the way up.

This pair seem a little distant but still seemed to be enjoying the view.

Taken on 14th June 2009, two days after the opening of the new summit visitor centre, using K10D/16-45 captured as a jpg.

p.s. What would I have done for a 67mm circular polarising filter.

p.p.s. if you are one of the two figures in the shot, sorry- only joking!

What a brilliant day! Many a time have I sat in just that spot and looked at the view. Would love to again one day!

That's a lovely composition.
But I was immediately struck by the lack of contrast and the tilt to the right (the cloud strata confirm this impression).
Great photo tho'; well worth a bit more PP

It would be fun to compare this shot with one taken with a polarizer for sure, but the haze adds to this shot and gives a very good sense of distance.

Thanks all for your comments.

The contrast is lacking a bit as I acknowledged in my p.s.

This is the view to the South-West from the summit. I would not expect as much saturation of the colours as in a North or North-Westerly view where the Sun would be directly behind me.

Isn't it partly due to "tonal recession", which I remember an art teacher talking about when we were sat on a corridor sketching the distant view of industrial Sheffield & Rotherham. Everything "faded to grey" in the distance.

Sorry about the tilt, Snowdon is a bit sloping in places

Regards,
Peter
