Great colour and atmosphere here. Is it the wide angle lens that generates those "lead in" skies, or do you wait for them to appear.
Hi Barrie
It's a combination of factors really.
The wide and use of a CPL and ND grads helps but I do deliberately seek these skies. Having visited the area many times over the past 3 or 4 years - to some extent I have worked out where and when I am likely to get what I am looking for.
This particular spot is best late afternoon with the light coming in from the right of the shot. Wind direction also plays a part - a breeze from the North West on this day.
I took around 8 versions of this shot over a period of 30-40 minutes before getting the combined reflections and sky that I wanted.

Nice set of images, just returned from the lake district, great scenery, however £4 on every lakeside car park Wow.

£4 Bill? You weren't staying long enough - that only buys you a couple of hours

I tend to use 3 or 4 car parks a day when I go but keep the costs down by using National Trust car parks where possible (free for members)
