Black Veined White Butterfly
by darkskies
Actually been extinct in Britain since the 1920's, I was lucky enough to find this in the part of our garden we call "the nature reserve" today.
I hope to get some more photos when it's less breezy.

Beautiful shot. I've been outside nearly all day today and I have not seen a single butterfly.

Rather too much contrast with the white flower. But no clipped highlights. It's a compromise of having to lose the detail with the flower, which isn't very important, and having the butterfly well exposed.nice capture, .., but I felt it a bit overexpo, .. seemingly some precious details of right wing and flower have been lost
regards,
But I will have a check and see if I can just tone it down a bit......and report back!
And I'll be taking some more if I find it again, and any mates.

Taking on board what senn said, I had another look. I have slightly toned down the patch on the right wing, but it really is a patch with no detail. next time I'll find a better specimen of this rare butterfly! I've also toned down the cow parlsey a touch, and this has brought out slightly more detail in the petals that are in focus. So, thanks senn! Here's the very slightly changed version.
