web strings

low sun and across the fields, 'millions' of webs strung across the plants. Anyone know what this phenomenon is known as?

No I don't know. Another version you see is after rough ploughing when the sun is really low. every tiny summit is linked to to every other one and it looks amazing right across the field, just as this one does vertically across the frame

Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

From what i've googled they look like grass spider webs, would this be of any use?

Thanks for looking that up - might be grass spiders, although there are so many of them and the wens look like strings in a long continual line going from one plant to the next.
