Looking inside this 18 year old train station. This was once designed a bit like a light dome with glass walls - the glass disappeared.

I am not sure about the positioning of the support pillar. It seems that we can see part of the base, where it meets the floor. Would it be better if we could see all of the base, or none of it.
Maybe a darkening of the highlights to the left of the pillar would further improve its impact. What do you think?
Yep - I am also not really happy withthe base of the pillar - unfortunately there is no other material on my hard drive, showing the base completely. I think I would prefer to see the base than cropping it off completely so I will back to this place . The other reason for doing so - this photo I took with my 18-250 standard lense - I now also have the Sigma 8-1 mm lense which might make some very "dramatic" compositions in this place. Already with this picture I will try your proposal with the reduced lights on the left.... so thanks for all these tips

The building looks like it has plenty to offer a photographer. I think twilight and the use of a few strobes could provide some really creative potential. I would also try straightening the image, as i think it looks off to me.

My sort of place to photograph, Axel. Great shapes and colours.
Best wishes,
Andrew

You have some great locations Axel, I think I need to visit you with one of my 'photographic subjects'

I like it very much, just as it is. Because of the various shapes, forms and lines in this shot I don't think there is any need to straighten it. I don't think it would look 'straight' no matter what angle is applied in post processing. I think the details and highlights are great (HDR?) and I would not alter a thing.

Ye - HDR.... actually I tried it straigt and the problem is, the pole looks better but the dome looks strange.... soperhaps a better compromise this way (however, the missing base of the pole is still a little issue)

When you ever have a chance to be in the area of Heidelberg, give me a call upfront and we plan a shooting session
