I haven't messed around with this one, just a tiny crop and a little sharpening, i really need a good macro lens.

Wow, if this is what you can do without a macro, can't wait 'til you get one. This is excellent
I have used my Tamron 70-300 lens which does have macro on it, but i have to stand pretty far away, maybe it wouldn't make much difference if i had a shorter lense, i don't know.

It's lovely and I agree that the reflections on the petals give added interest.

Excellent macro shot. I like its colours, sharpness and the square crop.
I know this lens well, I have a same one too. This is a good lens with 1:2 magnification ratio, but it's close point is about 1,2m. You can buy a Soligor +5 dpt Close Up lens or a Raynox DCR-250 Macro converter to it. You can reduce the close point with them on an affordable price.
