The Tree

by coker

An ancient sycamore in "Our Field", next door which, I'm sad to say, is about to be felled.

In the two & a half years we have lived here, we have seen bits fall off in gales, seen men trim it back, seen buzzards in it & rabbits, a fox & other wildlife under & around it.
We are trying to persuade the owner, a sympathetic lady, to let it stand & collapse in its own good time & continue to feed both the wildlife & our delight for a few more years.

It isn't doing any harm how it is, i hope they leave it to go it's natural way, i have a sycamore in my garden and when it's old ( it's about 40yrs now) i hope for it to go gracefully and naturally, doubt if i'll be here though! lovely piccy and story.

It's a great tree Roger, but I suppose the landowner may think it's dangerous and bits may fall off it?

A lovely image of the English countryside.
