The writing on the wagon really provides the photo with impact. I love monochrome photos of old industry and this is a good one.
The picture tells a story. I presume the background wagons are standard gauge and the foreground trucks are narrow gauge for use in the mine.

Cliff - It is now National Coal Museum - BiG Pit - Its free entry now and you can go on an underground tour 300 ft below. It is at Blanenafon, Torfaen, NP4 9XP Tel: 01495 - 790311. I took the photographs in late February 2009, go there quite a lot, good for B&W.
grahamwalton - Yes, the large wagons are standard BR gauge used to take the coal from the mine when it was working and the explosive wagons narrow gauge for under ground working.
