Thanks all for your comments. It is the old boat train station at Folkestone harbour. Unusually for a place like this it is open to the public. It was used during the first world war to get troops over to France and was the last many of them saw of England. I am not sure how long ago it closed but I would imagine that the Channel Tunnel was probably the last nail in its coffin.
