Castle Naze

by sandinista

Castle Naze, in the Peak District national Park, is a gritstone crag at the apex of Combs edge which overlooks Combs village and provides splendid views across Chapel-en-le-Frith and the surrounding area. This was also one of the crags where rock-climbing was pioneered and it is still popular with local climbers.

It was also the site of an Iron Age fortress and the ruins of the ramparts are probably the best preserved of any in the area.

Lovely landscape Jim, I really must make the effort to trek out into the wilds of Derbyshire, given that I live right on the edge of the county. Your images are inspiring me to get off my backside!!

Stunning Yes, I agree with David, so inspirational. Thank you for uploading your wonderful photo. Dof and compo. perfect. The terrain is defined really well, which is the bit I love the most. Regards from Pammi.

I agree with David, my inlaws live near to Chapel (Dove Holes) so I should use that as an excuse to get out there!

Quite.
I've only been to the Peak District once. Can't think why!
Best wishes,

Thankyou everyone for your kind comments and feedback

The sky thing could be my rather clumsy attempt at adding a digital gradient filter as it was very bright in parts Larry
